Omid was a real humanist hero and it’s truly sad that he wasn’t allowed to bring about a peaceful, dignified end to his life in his own home and his own country.
However, Omid’s legacy will be one of immense bravery and selflessness in his fight for the right of all us to be allowed to die in a manner of our choosing should be we terminally ill or incurably suffering.
Omid was a passionate humanist and lived his own life to its fullest, and I was proud to have had the opportunity to talk about him on Victoria Derbyshire the other day.
My deepest condolences are with his family, friends, and everyone else who was touched by his life. He will be missed.
