I appeared on Good Morning Britain today to discuss a recent study that has found that defendants who don’t ‘swear by Almighty God’ in court are more likely to be found guilty by jurors who do.
The digressions into whether jurors are biased in other ways and the presenter advising non-religious people to lie and take an oath rather obscured the point of this story – there is a problem with this system and it can be easily reformed to make justice better!
Anyone catch Good Morning Britain this morning? ?
Our Chief Executive @andrewcopson explaining that defendants who don’t 'swear by almighty god' in court are more likely to be found guilty by jurors who do?
Nobody is trying to 'ban' swearing on the bible. pic.twitter.com/FWqPF7aHlY
