Attending the Holocaust Memorial Day national ceremony

Today, I attended two official Holocaust Memorial Day ceremonies, in the Foreign Office and at the very moving HMD2025 national ceremony. No other I know so meaningfully marks not just the tragedy of the holocaust but uses HMD so effectively as a way of building solidarity with those suffering identity or belief based persecution everywhere.

One of the most moving aspects of any Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony is the testimony of survivors. Wonderful to meet Janine Webber and hear her story which of course revealed the worst of humanity but also the best – particularly that there are always good people who will not just stand by.
