It’s been a busy few days at the Labour Party Conference. As well as meeting the new minister for humanists, Miatta Fahnbulleh MP, I was a panelist on a joint event with More in Common on threats to free expression in Britain, and I spoke at Humanists UK’s annual reception. It was great to meet so many engaged MPs, peers, and party supporters and activists!
Here’s a round up.
Good to meet the new minister for humanists, Miatta Fahnbulleh MP, and talk about @humanists.uk’s work at #Lab25. I look forward to working together!

What a fantastic evening at the @humanists.uk reception at #Lab25 Conference. Always a highlight to connect with so many supportive Labour politicians & activists who share our vision for a more rational, compassionate, & open society.

Interesting and timely @humanists.uk and @moreincommonuk.bsky.social panel discussion at #Lab25 on
threats to free expression in Britain. We mustn’t allow the necessary protection of people from hatred to become a backdoor for censoring criticism of ideas.— Andrew Copson (@andrewcopson.bsky.social) Sep 29, 2025 at 4:01 PM
